
Forward and reigning ECHL Playoff MVP Oliver Chau is signing an AHL contract with the Springfield Thunderbirds for the 2024-25 season, per Tony Androckitis of Inside AHL Hockey.
The Oakville, ON, native spent the majority of the past two seasons with the Florida Everblades where he captured back-to-back Kelly Cup Championships. He recorded 23 points in 23 playoff games to take home the 2024 June M. Kelly Award as Playoff MVP, helping the Everblades win their third title in a row. He has 39 goals and 58 assists in 112 career ECHL games.
After his fifth NCAA season Chau joined the AHL's Tucson Roadrunners where he recorded four assists in 10 games. He has one goal and five points in 16 career AHL games with Tucson and the Charlotte Checkers.
Chau has won at every level of hockey he has played, prior to his time in the ECHL he won the AJHL Championship with the Brooks Bandits in 2016-17 and the 2020-21 NCAA Championship with UMass.
