The Syracuse Crunch announced they have re-signed forward and longtime captain Gabriel Dumont to a one-year AHL contract.
A good offensive player with established leadership ability and a tough side, Dumont posted 28 points and 53 penalty minutes in 47 games this season, his sixth with the organization.
The Dégelis, Quebec, native has played parts of 15 seasons in the AHL, registering 199 goals and 452 points in 731 games. Dumont has nine points in 90 career NHL games with Montreal, Tampa Bay, Minnesota, and Ottawa.
Dumont was captain of the Crunch in the 2018-19 season before departing for two seasons with the Iowa Wild. He was named captain of Syracuse upon his return in 2021-22 and has kept the role since. He also served in leadership roles with Hamilton, St. John's, and Iowa.
Originally selected in the fifth round of the 2009 draft by the Montreal Canadiens, Dumont joined the Lightning organization in 2016-17, he has twice left and returned to the organization since.
The 33-year-old is 49 points away from passing Gord Labossiere and entering the top 100 point scorers in AHL history.
Dumont is a two-time AHL All-Star and one-time QMJHL champion.
