    The Toronto Maple Leafs announced they have acquired forward Reese Johnson from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for future considerations. 

    Johnson is pointless in three games with the Minnesota Wild and has four goals and 13 points in 49 games with the Iowa Wild this season. 

    The 26-year-old will likely serve as a bottom-six player for the Toronto Marlies after the team dealt Nikita Grebenkin and Fraser Minten away in trades earlier today. 

    The Regina, Sask., native signed an entry level deal with the Chicago Blackhawks as an undrafted free agent in 2019 after parts of five seasons with the WHL's Red Deer Rebels. He served as captain his final WHL season. 

    The physical forward has 13 goals, 36 points and 140 penalty minutes in 132 career AHL games with the Rockford Ice Hogs and Iowa Wild. He has seven goals, 17 points and 103 penalty minutes in career NHL games with Chicago and Minnesota. 

    Johnson will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
