Anthony Stolarz Overuse

The Toronto Maple Leafs appear set to recall goaltender Matt Murray and he is expected to appear in his first NHL game since Apr. 3, 2023, per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman

Murray has been fantastic for the Toronto Marlies this season, posting a 4-1-3 record with a .931 SP, 1.85 GAA and one shutout.

With Anthony Stolarz expected to miss 4-6 weeks while undergoing a knee procedure there is an opening for Murray, Dennis Hildeby, or rookie sensation Artur Akhtyamov to play multiple games.

The Maple Leafs play the Buffalo Sabres on Friday and the New York Islanders on Saturday.

If this move comes to pass Dennis Hildeby will likely return to the AHL for more seasoning where he has a 2-2-2 record with .897 SP and 2.73 GAA this season.

Murray's strong play is one of the reasons the Marlies lead the AHL with a 71.7 points percentage.

The Thunder Bay, Ont., native signed a one-year contract with Toronto in July worth $875,000.
