
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced they have signed defensemen Dakota Mermis and Philippe Myers, as well as forward Cédric Paré to one-year contracts, all three are worth $775,000.
Mermis is 30-years-old and played the majority of last season in the NHL for the first time in his career, posting eight points in 47 games with the Minnesota Wild. He averaged 14:05 of time on ice per game. He has played 74 career NHL games across three franchises.
He will likely serve as a veteran presence on the Marlies blueline and fill in on the Leafs should injuries arise. Mermis served as captain of the Iowa Wild last season despite only playing five AHL games.
Myers played five games for the Tampa Bay Lightning and 61 for the Syracuse Crunch last season, putting up no points in the NHL and 23 in the AHL. He has played 238 career AHL games and 158 career NHL games.
The 27-year-old has experience in Toronto as he played 16 games with the Toronto Marlies on loan from Nashville in 2021-22. Listed at 6'6, Myers will help bring stability to the Marlies and provides depth on the Leafs right side.
Paré is the sole player of the three signees to receive a two-way contract. He put up 14 goals and 35 points in 61 games with the Colorado Eagles last season, he has 69 points in 148 career AHL games.
The 25-year-old participated in the Maple Leafs Development Camp in 2021 and has steadily improved all four years he played professionally. He will help bolster the Marlies up front next season.
