
Pending Toronto Maple Leafs restricted free agent and Toronto Marlies forward Roni Hirvonen has signed a one-year contract with Kärpät of Finland's Liiga, the team has announced.
Hirvonen recorded 10 goals and 21 points in 59 games with the Marlies this season. In two AHL seasons he has 34 points in 96 games.
The 23-year-old has not appeared in a regular season game for the Maple Leafs, they retain his NHL rights.
A second round pick of the Maple Leafs in 2020, Hirvonen returns to the Liiga where has played parts of four seasons.
In 209 total games with Ässät and HIFK he notched 35 goals and 91 points. Hirvonen also won the bronze medal at the 2021 World Junior Championship and captained Finland to a silver medal at the 2022 World Junior Championship.
