The Toronto Marlies announced they have signed defenseman Matt Anderson to a PTO and recalled defenseman Chas Sharpe from their ECHL affiliate Cincinnati Cyclones.

Anderson has eight points in 22 games with the ECHL's Toledo Walleye and zero points in one game with the Utica Comets this season.

The 25-year-old played three games with the Marlies on a loan last season and recorded three assists.

The Marlies signed Anderson to an AHL contract last summer before he signed with the Walleye after receiving no playing time.

Sharpe has 34 points in 50 games with the Cyclones this season and leads the ECHL in goals by defensemen with 19.

The 21-year-old signed a two-year AHL deal with the team in April after four seasons with the OHL's Mississauga Steelheads.

Both players appear set to play in the Marlies game today against the Manitoba Moose, per THN's Nick Barden.

Even with Marshall Rifai currently up with the Maple Leafs the Marlies now have 10 defensemen on their active roster.
