    25-year-old signs for 2024-25 season

The Utica Comets announced they have signed forward Filip Engaras to a one-year, one-way AHL contract for the 2024-25 season.

Originally selected in the sixth round of the 2020 draft by the Edmonton Oilers, Utica acquired Engaras in exchange for forward Garrett Van Whye in a trade with the Bakersfield Condors in January 2023.

Engaras had four successful years at the University of New Hampshire where he recorded 47 points in 80 career games.

The 25-year-old recorded six goals and six assists for the Comets last season, as well as three points in six games and nine in 17 playoff games for the ECHL's Adirondack Thunder.

After making steady improvements every year as a pro, Engaras will look to provide more offense for a Comets team that missed the Calder Cup playoffs last season.
