The Washington Capitals announced they have re-assigned forward Andrew Cristall from the WHL's Spokane Chiefs to the AHL's Hershey Bears.
A second round pick of the Capitals in 2023 Cristall had a monster season, he led the WHL in scoring with 48 goals and 132 points in 56 games split between the Kelowna Rockets and Spokane Chiefs.
The 20-year-old followed up his regular season with 21 goals and 41 points in 19 playoff games as the Chiefs lost in the WHL finals to the Medicine Hat Tigers.
The Vancouver, BC., native was named to the WHL's Western Conference First All-Star Team and is a finalist for the Four Broncos Trophy as WHL's Player of the Year.
Cristall wraps up his fantastic junior career with 157 goals and 412 points in 248 games, becoming the first WHL player this century to record 400 career points.
This move should provide a nice offensive boost to the two-time defending Calder Cup champion Bears who are facing elimination, down two games to zero in their best-of-five third round series against the Charlotte Checkers. Game three of the series is tomorrow May 21.
The series has been very tight-checking and Hershey has only put up 37 shots against Charlotte over two games, it will be interesting to see how Bears coach Todd Nelson deploys Cristall.
