    Canadiens draft pick heads to KHL after six AHL seasons

    Former Springfield Thunderbirds forward Will Bitten has signed a one-year contract with Spartak Moscow of the KHL

    The 26-year-old spent the majority of the last three seasons with the Thunderbirds, recording 17 goals and 33 points in 68 games last season. 

    His best stretch of hockey came after arriving in Springfield midseason in 2021-22,  he went on to post eight goals and 21 points in 18 Calder Cup playoff games, helping his team reach the finals where they eventually lost to Chicago. 

    A third round pick of the Montreal Canadiens in 2016, Bitten was traded to the Minnesota Wild in 2018 and began his pro career with the Iowa Wild. 

    In 346 career AHL games with Iowa and Springfield Bitten has 80 goals and 100 assists. The Ottawa, ON, native appeared in four NHL games with the St. Louis Blues in 2022-23 and recorded one assist. 

    Bitten won the 2018 OHL championship with the Hamilton Bulldogs and the gold medal with Canada at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.
