NHL Prospects Trade Deadline Philipp Grubauer has cleared waivers [https://x.com/reporterchris/status/1885041728731709605] and will be assigned to the Seattle Kraken's [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/seattle-kraken/] AHL affiliate Coachella Valley Firebirds. Grubauer is in year four of a six-year deal he signed in July 2021 that pays him $5.9 million per year. The 33-year-old has had a rough season for the Kraken, he has a 5-15-1 record with a .866 SP and 3.76 GAA. He has not recorded a save percentage over .900 since he joined Seattle. The Rosenheim, GER., native last appeared in the AHL and was named to the All-Star Game in 2015 as a member of the Hershey Bears. A fourth round selection of the Washington Capitals in 2010, Grubauer is expected to play games for Coachella Valley [https://x.com/AlisonL/status/1885039520938422311] as he works to get his game back. The Firebirds currently sit second in the AHL's Pacific Division and are looking to make a third straight Calder Cup Finals appearance. Grubauer's first opportunity to suit up for Coachella Valley comes this weekend as the team plays back-to-back on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 against the Texas Stars.
