LAS VEGAS -- I wrote about tonight's clash between the Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights, and the meetings the past two seasons.
Tonight they highlight the schedule, bringing a close to the six-game slate as the rivalry continues.
The line has moved in favor of Dallas, even with the announcement that Mark Stone will be back in the lineup for Vegas.
Let's do a deep dive into this one:
WHY DALLAS: The Stars arrive in Las Vegas after having their three-game win streak snapped by the Kings in Los Angeles. Dallas had won three in a row and nine of its previous 13 before falling Wednesday night, 3-2. If there is one team that the Stars can get up for, it's the Knights in honor of coach Peter DeBoer.
WHY VEGAS: The Stars eliminated the Golden Knights in seven games in the first round of last season's playoffs. Don't think for a moment the Knights haven't forgotten about that and will want revenge in this first regular-season meeting. With Stone back, the top line could be flying, along with Jack Eichel and Ivan Barbashev.

THE PICK: UNDER 6 +105 -- As much as I'd like to think we have a high-scoring shootout on our hands, this has the makings of a goalie showdown. Jake Oettinger is in net for Dallas and Adin Hill is between the pipes for Vegas. Oettinger has posted a 2.41 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage, which ranks third and sixth, respectively, among goaltenders with a minimum 15 starts. Hill, who stopped all 28 Edmonton shots on Tuesday to earn his second shutout of the season, is 11-4-2 on the season and has recorded a 1.70 GAA in his last seven starts. Look for this one to stay low.
