The Hockey News is launching a betting site!

Welcome to the THN Bets!

The Hockey News, in partnership with BETMGM, is launching daily betting content. As a current host of The Hockey News Action Show, I will be leading the charge in creating content for this site. Yes, the season is winding down, but this isn't just about handing out betting tips.

So much of the betting sphere is about learning. Learning to find value bets, read lines, understand when and when not to play juiced lines, analyzing data and trends, and creating profitable betting strategies. This site will do all of that. Each of the site's four sections focuses on a different part of betting: Best Bets, Value Bets, Learn to Bet and Betting Videos.

Best Bets will be posted every day there is a game being played. There may be some special bets around draft and free agency, as well. In the think of the regular season, I like to have two or three best bets every day. These are chosen using data, trends and matchups that increase the likelihood of the bet winning.

Value Bets are about finding discrepancies in predicted outcomes against the line. I will explain why the line is listed at the number and why I believe it should be something else, creating value. The premise behind these bets is that if you win 40% of them, you are likely coming out profitable. It's about beating the books.

Learn to Bet will be a key section. Betting has exploded the past couple of years and it is important to learn before you lose all your money! You wouldn't by a house completely blind, so you shouldn't take a bet completely blind either. In this section, I will go over betting strategies, how to analyze data, which data is most important, and more. Everything in this section will be geared towards helping you become a profitable bettor. Admittedly, I bet on much more than hockey, so I may use examples from other sports to make explanations easier.

Betting Videos will be short and sweet videos talking about a topic more in-depth than a little paragraph. You will see best bets, value bets and some short learning videos posted on that page. Video is a great way to learn and given the new age of digital media, it can be a fun way to engage with the audience. I plan to have some interviews with people from around the industry, as well.

We're just getting started here and even though the end of season isn't ideal, we have the entire off season to learn together. That will set us up well for the upcoming NHL season. Looking forward to engaging and interacting with all of you!
