-The Sharks have been careful about the time they give to some of their young players, especially Will Smith. Smith has played back-to-back games just once this season. San Jose is following a strict development schedule for Smith, and regardless of whether he is playing well, they won't change the plan.

-Even though the Sharks held on to beat the St. Louis Blues on Thursday, they were again on their heels in the third period. The Sharks are a young team, and learning how to win was the first lesson of their season; now, they must learn how to win convincingly.
