Chad Costello accumulated a 70-67-7 record in two years behind the Allen Americans bench.
The Allen Americans are in search of a new head coach and general manager after parting ways with Chad Costello on Thursday. The 37-year-old Costello was hired prior to the 2022-23 season and accumulated a 70-67-7 record in two years behind the bench.
The Americans clinched their fourth consecutive playoff berth this past season, but Allen lost four games to one to the Idaho Steelheads in the first round of the 2024 Kelly Cup Playoffs.
“These are always difficult decisions, but this one was especially tough because of what Chad (Costello) and his family mean to the Allen Americans,” said Americans Co-Owner LaSonjia Jack in a statement. “We wish Chad the best and we're excited to begin the search for our next coach.”
With Costello's firing, the Allen Americans and Worcester Railers are the only teams in the ECHL yet to fill their head coaching vacancies.
