The Kansas City Mavericks are two wins away from tying an ECHL record, with the Atlanta Gladiators remaining in the hunt.

The Kansas City Mavericks are on a roll.

The Mavericks, who have been hot out of the gate and currently stand as one of only two undefeated clubs in the ECHL, blanked the Rapid City Rush 3-0 last night to bring their streak to seven games. Goaltender Jack LaFontaine put up a 28-save shutout in the dominant performance.

The Mavericks now find themselves chasing down an ECHL record ahead of tonight's rematch against the Rush (6:05 p.m. CDT).

Courtesy of our friends at ECHL Stats, the Mavericks are just two wins shy of tying the longest winning streak to start an ECHL season. The 2022 Worcester Railers currently hold the record with nine games, followed by the 2001 Trenton Titans and 1994 Dayton Bombers with eight.

Curiously, the record-holding Railers finished fifth in their division that year, despite the unprecedented start.

Not to be slept on are the Atlanta Gladiators, who currently sit on a 5-0 record of their own following a 5-3 win over the Jacksonville Icemen last night. They take on the Stingrays tomorrow at 4 p.m. EST.
