The Reading Royals announced that defenseman Nick Carabin has been re-signed to an ECHL contract for the 2025-26 season.

The 25-year-old Carabin is entering his first-full professional season after recording an assist in his professional debut and one regular-season game played for the Royals in the 2024-25 season.

The Mahwah, New Jersey native made his professional post-season debut during Reading's 2025 Kelly Cup Playoff first round series against the Trois-Rivières Lions, skating in three games.

"I am excited to be coming back," stated Carabin. "We have a great year ahead of us. I can't wait to see all the fans on Nov. 8 at Santander Arena.”

Head coach and GM Anthony Peters is particularly impressed with Carabin’s skating ability.

"Nick skates really well and has good poise with the puck,” Peters noted. "He had a small taste last year and played meaningful games for the team, we look forward to see what he can come in and do this year.”

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound right-shot blueliner played youth hockey for the North Jersey Avalanche and Mahwah High School. He also played in the BCHL with the Coquitlam Express.

Carabin played his NCAA hockey at Princeton and the University of Connecticut. Over five seasons between the two programs, he totaled 38 points (9-29-38) in 119 games.

At Princeton, Carabin made the All-Ivy League First Team.

The Royals kick off their 2025-26 regular season on the road against the defending Kelly Cup Champion Trois-Rivieres Lions Friday, Oct. 17 at Colisee Videotron.

The Royals’ home opener is against the Lions on Nov. 8.
