Yantsis scored two goals in three games for the Trois-Rivières Lions after being claimed off waivers, but he will be suspended for the first nine games of the 2024-25 season

Jonathan Yantsis is returning to the Trois-Rivières Lions for the upcoming 2024-25 season. The 25-year-old forward was claimed off waivers late in the season and scored two goals in three games to close out the regular-season schedule.

In the playoffs, Yantsis tallied one point (an assist) in five games. He was suspended in Game 5 of the first round against the Norfolk Admirals after boarding Norfolk defenseman Darick Louis-Jean in the second period.

The league assessed Yantsis with a nine-game suspension, so he will miss some time to start the 2024-25 season. The Scarborough, Ontario, native initially signed with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in February after finishing up his senior season at Queen's University.

With the Swamp Rabbits, Yantsis did not record a point in ten games played. In his final collegiate year, he tallied 37 points on 18 goals and 18 assists in 26 games.
