With Switzerland and Czechia matching up on Sunday in the Gold Medal game at the 2024 Men's IIHF World Hockey Championship, we simulated the game in NHL 24 to predict who comes out on top.
Our semifinal simulation accurately predicted a Swiss win over Canada.
Switzerland were able to shut out Czechia and win this game 2-0, winning this tournament for the first time.
We scratched Philipp Kurashev for Tristan Scherwey for Switzerland and Jan Rutta for David Spacek due to suspension for Czechia.
Christian Marti and Michael Fora played roughly the same number of shifts against Canada but since we can only start six defensemen in NHL 24 we went with Fora, the higher overall, on the Swiss backend.
We Started Leonardo Genoni and Lukas Dostal in net despite both playing their teams semifinals games.

Play was relatively even but there were a few outliers, the Swiss had five powerplays while the Czechs had zero, and Czechia recorded a 92.6% passing percentage.
Christoph Bertschy had a goal and assist for the Swiss, Calvin Thurkauf scored their other goal. Genoni followed up a stellar showing against Canada with a 24 save shutout,
Czechia could not score a goal despite six shots from David Kampf and four from David Pastrnak. Radko Gudas lead the team in ice time with over 31 minutes played. Dostal stopped 21 of 23 shots.
Czechia has won the gold six times since the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, the last time was in 2010.
If this simulation holds true, Switzerland will win it's first ever Gold Medal at the tournament, they have won Silver three times (2018, 2013, 1935).
