Making the case for a two-man cover

With about one month to go until the expected announcement of the NHL 25 cover athlete, we are back with another article speculating on who it could be.

Given his popularity and great rookie season we still think Connor Bedard is the favorite to be on the cover, but wanted to discuss the Tkachuk brothers as viable candidates.

Matthew Tkachuk took home the Stanley Cup this year with the Florida Panthers and has registered 197 points in 159 games in his time with the Panthers. His brother Brady is the captain of the Ottawa Senators and scored 37 goals last season while finishing third in the league in hits.

NHL 23 was the lone edition of the franchise that had two players on the cover. Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane were supposed to share the NHL 16 cover before Kane was removed.

The brothers' playstyle would allow EA Sports to help market the game around their physicality in trailers and real life promotion. The two have good on screen chemistry, evident in the Hyundai commercial they both appeared in.

Having these two on the cover would allow EA Sports to put the Stanley Cup on the cover with Matthew, and market the game in both Canada and the United States.

Two young players in their prime with personality is all you could ask for from potential cover athletes.

There has never been an Ottawa Senator player on the cover of a NHL game, and there has not been a Florida Panther since John Vanbiesbrouck on NHL 97.
