On the second day of the Continental Cup’s second round, Jesenice and Ritten both remain perfect in Group C, setting up a one-game showdown for advancement on Sunday. Things are more complicated in Group D, where Ferencvarosti, Bracov and Riga are all tied on four points.

Group C (Ritten, Italy):

Acroni Jesenice (SLO) 5Sokil Kyiv (UKR) 2

After scoring the winner late yesterday, Jesenice jumped out to the early 2-0 lead against Kyiv to win for the second straight game. Erik Svetina and Tadej Cimzar each had three points for the victors while Viktor Zakharov figured in on both of Kyiv’s goals.

KHL Sisak (CRO) 2Ritten Baum (ITA) 10

After a dramatic opening win, Ritten took control of this game in the second half of the first period. It was 1-1 13 minutes in but four goals in a 4:50 span broke it open. In a balanced attack, Kevin Fink had three points for the group host while Markus Spinell and Diego Cuglietta each scored twice.

Standings after two games each: 1. Ritten 6 points, 2. Jesenice 6 points, 3. Kyiv 0 points, 4. Sisak 0 points.

Group D (Bracov, Romania)

Energija Elektrenai (LTU) 5 – Mogo Riga (LAT) 6

After losing in overtime yesterday, Riga nearly went to OT again after blowing a 5-1 second period lead. However, Kārlis Ozoliņš’s goal with 20 seconds left in regulation time gave the Latvian champion the regulation win, and kept their Baltic rivals from getting their first point.

Ferencvarosi TC (HUN) 4 – CSM Corona Bracov (ROU) 5 [OT]

For the second game in a row, Bracov fans were able to celebrate their team’s overtime victory in the nightcap. This time, it was a come-from-behind victory as Corona trailed by two in the third period but Yevgeni Skachkov scored twice, with the equalizer coming at 59:59. Jared von Wormer was then the overtime hero.
