The Swiss Ice Hockey Federation held its annual awards ceremony for the 2024-25 hockey season on Thursday night in Solothurn.
Most of the award winners were from Switzerland’s top-tier pro league, the National League, although there were also awards for the MVPs of the second-tier Swiss League, the third-tier MyHockey League and the Women’s League, as well as a few other awards. The Team of the Year was the men’s national team, which repeated as silver medalist at the 2025 IIHF World Championship.
National League Awards:
Regular season MVP: Adam Czarnik (SC Bern)
Playoff MVP: Sven Andrighetto (ZSC Lions)
Jacques Plante Trophy – top goaltender: Stéphane Charlin (SCL Tigers)
Youngster of the year: Ludwig Johnson (EV Zug)
Czarnik, 32, was born in Detroit and played 205 NHL regular-season games between 2015 and 2024 with the Boston Bruins, Calgary Flames, New York Islanders, Seattle Kraken and Detroit Red Wings, scoring 18 goals and adding 33 assists. Last season, his first in Switzerland, he had 58 points in 51 regular-season and playoff games for SC Bern. He has already signed a contract to play for Lausanne HC win 2025-26.
Andrighetto, also 32, recorded 84 points in 227 NHL regular-season and playoff games for the Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche between 2014 and 2019. In addition to winning the playoff MVP award, he was also the MVP and top scorer of the Champions Hockey League and was IIHF Male Player of the Year. Team-wise, he won the CHL and a second straight National League title with Zurich and a World Championship silver medal with Switzerland.
Charlin, a 24-year-old goalie for the SCL Tigers of Langnau, had a goals-against average of 1.80, a save percentage of .946, five shutouts and record of 20-10-2 in 34 games for the eighth-place Tigers. This despite a knee injury that kept him out of the lineup from early February through the end of the season. Charlin has already signed a contract to play for Genève-Servette next season.
Johnson, a 19-year-old defenseman, was a regular for Zug in the National League and played for Switzerland in the IIHF World Junior Championship. He was a fifth-round pick of the Utah Mammoth in this year’s NHL Entry Draft.
The winners differ slightly from the awards presented in March, which were voted by the captains and coaches of the National League teams. In that vote, Charlin was voted MVP with Czarnik coming in second.

Ambühl, who retired at the end of the season as the all-time games-played leader in the National League and also the all-time leader in top-level tournaments and games played at the IIHF World Championships, had his uniform number 10 retired by the Swiss national team.
