William Nylander has accepted an invitation to play for Sweden at the IIHF World Championship and is already on his way to Stockholm, Swedish website HockeyNews.se reported. on Wednesday morning.
On Wednesday afternoon European time, the Swedish Ice Hockey Association confirmed the news via X (formerly Twitter).
“Welcome to Tre Kronor, William Nylander,” the tweet begins. “William joins the team during the day and is ready to play in the quarterfinals against Czechia.”

When asked about the possibility of going during his end-of-season media availiability in Toronto on Tuesday, Nylander replied, “I’m thinking about it. We’ll see what happens.”
If Nylander is in the lineup against Czechia on Thursday, he will probably be lining up against Toronto Maple Leafs teammate David Kämpf, who has joined the Czech team and is also expected to arrive in Stockholm on Wednesday.
