American left winger Kieffer Bellows, 27, has signed a one-year contract with Brynäs IF, the Gävle-based SHL club announced on Sunday.
“I’m very happy to have signed with Brynäs,” Bellows is quoted in the club’s announcement. “I’ve heard a lot about this club, about the success and the proud history. Hopefully we can write a new chapter together. Of course, I’ve also heard a lot about the fantastic fan base. What mainly formed the basis for my decision is the winning culture that permeates the entire organization – from the players to the management. I am really looking forward to the upcoming season.”
“Kieffer is a robust player who has always been good at finding and creating scoring chances on entry and in dangerous situations,” said sports director Johan Alcén. “He also has a really good shot. Despite his relatively young age, Kieffer has managed to gather a lot of valuable experience from both the NHL and internationally.”
The son of former NHLer Brian Bellows, Kieffer was born in Edina, Minn., played one year of college hockey at Boston University and one season in the WHL for the Portland Winterhawks. He was taken in the first round, 19th overall, by the New York Islanders in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
Between 2019 and 2025, Bellows played 114 NHL games for the Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers and Nashville Predators, recording 32 points and 37 penalty minutes.

He also spent the 2023-24 season in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization, spending the entire season in the AHL. Last season he had four points in 19 games for Nashville and 40 points in 54 AHL regular-season and playoff games for the Milwaukee Admirals.
Internationally, Bellows represented the USA at one IIHF U-18 World Championship, two World Junior Championships, winning a gold medal in 2017, and one senior-level World Championship.

Despite just being promoted from the tier-two HockeyAllsvenskan last season, Brynäs finished first in the SHL regular-season standings and went all the way to the league finals, losing to Lulea in six games.
