The University of Michigan is bringing in a loaded class that only a blue-blooded school could do. With high-end talent like Landon DuPont, how does the rest of this class shake out, and can they make an impact on day one?
Winning the Big Ten Championship was a sign that last season's Wolverines squad had what they needed to win it all. A Frozen Four loss left the program with yet another year without the end goal of a National Championship. This freshman has everything you could want: good players and star power.
All entry years are from CollegeHockeyNews and are subject to change. Players are listed alphabetically by last name.
Cooper Dennis –Right Winger, Brantford Bulldogs (OHL)
Standing at five-foot-six, he’s not going to be the biggest on the team, but what he can do is produce offense.
In the 2024-25 season, Dennis was playing for the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the USHL, where he only had nine goals in 55 games. This season for the Bulldogs, in 68 games, he had 34 goals and 74 points.
Kieran Dervin –Center, Kingston Frontenacs (OHL)
Dervin played the end of his 2024-25 season with the Frontenacs, where he ended up playing 11 playoff games with them.
In his first and only full season in the OHL, he played in 53 games, where he put up 17 goals and 42 points. Dervin was also taken in the third round by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2025 draft.
Landon DuPont –Defenseman, Everett Silvertips (WHL)
It seemed like it was very close between Michigan and Michigan State for who would get the 2027 projected first-overall pick.
DuPont, as a freshman, will be a dark-horse Hobey Baker candidate with the amount of explosive offensive traits he possesses. In 63 games, DuPont put up 18 goals and 73 points for the Silvertips. In the playoffs, in 18 games, he had 23 points to help Everett win the WHL.
Brandt Harper –Defenseman, North Bay Battalion (OHL)
Harper, a Tampa, Florida native, played a season in the USHL before making the switch to Canadian major junior.
In his one season in North Bay, he topped the point production he had in the USHL. In 56 games, he had six goals and 22 points, and a plus-minus of plus-seven.
J.P. Hurlbert –Center, Kamloops Blazers (WHL)
Drafted in the first round by the Detroit Red Wings this past draft, Hurlbert simply dominated in his only WHL season.
While wearing an A on his chest in his first WHL season, he put up 42 goals and 97 points in 68 games, which ranked first on the Blazers.
Noah Kosick –Center, Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL)
Kosick was drafted this past year by the Anaheim Ducks in the sixth round. Kosick played 34 games for the Calgary Hitmen, where he only recorded three points.
Well, he followed that up the next season with 54 points in 69 games split between the Swift Current Broncos and the Seattle Thunderbirds.
Justin Larose –Left Winger, Newfoundland Regiment (QMJHL)
Larose was a consistent point-per-game player in the QMJHL, where he played five seasons between three teams.
In his final season, he led the Regiment in points with 88 and assists with 56, and he was third in goals with 32. Larose has been undrafted multiple times and will have a chip on his shoulder for the Wolverines.
Nicholas Sima –Right Winger, Ottawa 67’s (OHL)
Sima played five seasons in the OHL with the North Bay Battalion, Saginaw Spirit, where he was an assistant captain, and the Ottawa 67’s.
In his final season, he played 66 games and put up 19 goals and 44 points. He was also a plus-15 in his 30 games with Ottawa.
