The Vegas Golden Knights announced on Saturday that they've signed captain Mark Stone to a two-year contract extension.
The Vegas Golden Knights have put pen to paper on a contract extension for captain Mark Stone, the team announced on Saturday. Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon signed the 34-year-old to a two-year deal at $9 million per season against the salary cap.
This contract for Stone will kick in following the upcoming season, will activate for 2027-28, and will expire after 2028-29.
Stone is going into the final year of his eight-year, $76-million contract, which costs $9.5 million against the cap. That was the first deal he signed with Vegas. The right winger's new deal is a $500,000 cut from his current deal.
Selected 178th overall in the sixth round of the 2010 draft by the Ottawa Senators, the veteran is entering his 16th NHL season and his ninth with the Golden Knights. Since joining Vegas in 2018-19, he's played 400 regular-season games for the club, scoring 136 goals and 396 points.
This past year, Stone notched 28 goals and 73 points in 60 appearances. He also scored an additional seven goals and 12 points in 17 games in the Stanley Cup playoffs, helping his team reach the final.
Stone, third in all-time points for the Golden Knights, is just 21 points behind Jonathan Marchessault's 417 points as the franchise's all-time leading scorer. Stone also has a Stanley Cup under his belt, as Vegas hoisted the Cup in 2023.
Internationally, the Winnipeg native was a big part of Team Canada, representing his nation at the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off and the 2026 Winter Olympics. At the Olympics, Stone registered two goals and four points, tying for seventh on the team in scoring.
