With over 80,000 submissions, the New York Islanders are closing in on their final eight designs for their fan-driven jersey contest for the 2027-28 season.
The New York Islanders have narrowed down the options for their 2027-28 third-jersey fan vote, the team revealed on Tuesday.
From an original 80,490 submissions from fans, a committee made up of Islanders players and members of the organization's hockey operations have cut it down to the final eight. The remaining third-jersey designs have been lined up in a bracket-style fan vote that would eventually lead to a clear winner.
The first round of voting in this quarter-final stage opens up on Wednesday at 12PM ET and will be completed on Friday at 5PM ET. The second round is from Saturday to Monday, which is the transition from the final four teams to only two remaining.
Voting for the final round to decide the Isles' third jersey for the coming season runs from Aug. 18-20. The winner would be unveiled some time after voting is closed, and the Islanders would begin the process of creating the full uniform.
“Islanders fans have once again blown us away with their incredible creativity and the sheer volume of participation,” the Islanders' president of business operations, Kelly Cheeseman, said.
"Both the passion of our fans and their overwhelming support throughout this contest have been extraordinary. From over 80,000 submissions down to our final bracket of eight, every step of this journey proves just how deeply invested Isles Nation is in the identity of this franchise.”
Photo Credit: New York IslandersThe matchups for the first round are paired up based on similar designs. For example, two different fisherman concepts are going up against each other, one in orange and the other in a dark blue color.
The same can be said about two lighthouse concepts facing off, also in the same color designs as the fisherman, as well as a 'NY' logo centering another combination.
The only matchup that consists of two different logo designs is the jersey that has an 'Isles' logo on a dark blue thread, versus an 'Islanders' logo placed inside a cream-colored rectangle.
