The New York Rangers have signed former Seattle Kraken winger Eeli Tolvanen to a one-year contract ahead of the 2026-27 NHL season.

The New York Rangers have officially agreed to terms on a one-year, $1.5-million contract with forward Eeli Tolvanen, the team announced Wednesday.
The 27-year-old put up 12 goals and 36 points in 78 games for the Seattle Kraken last season. However, Tolvanen is just one year removed from recording a career-high 23 goals in the 2024-25 season.
Tolvanen became an unrestricted free agent this summer after his two-year, $6.9-million contract ($3.47 million AAV) expired on July 1. He joins Pavel Dorofeyev, Joonas Korpisalo, Marcus Pettersson, Sean Durzi, Oliver Bjorkstrand and Joe Veleno as new additions made to the Rangers' roster this summer.
After this acquisition, the Rangers now have just under $1 million in cap space to start the 2025-26 season.
The 5-foot-10 winger was a first-round pick of the Nashville Predators in the 2017 NHL Draft, being selected 30th overall. He made his NHL debut in the 2017-18 season, suiting up for just three games, but became a mainstay in Nashville in 2020-21 after bouncing around between the AHL and the KHL.
The Kraken claimed Tolvanen off waivers from the Predators during the 2022-23 season, tallying 139 points in 288 games. Tolvanen also led the franchise in hits (703) and ranked first among forwards in blocked shots (256) during his tenure.
Tolvanen has also represented his home country of Finland in several international tournaments, including the 2018 and 2026 Olympics, and two World Championships.
