    If the Carolina Hurricanes don't win the Stanley Cup in the next couple of seasons, it certainly won't be for a lack of trying.

    Man, Hurricanes GM Eric Tulsky just keeps stepping up to the plate and taking swings. And you have to admire him for that.

    The latest example came Thursday when he followed the blockbuster trade for and signing of defenseman K'Andre Miller with the six-year, $51-million deal he signed with UFA Nikolaj Ehlers.

    Ehlers gives the Hurricanes a really good fit on the left side of the Hurricanes top line and a consistent scoring threat. Perhaps he's not quite as explosive as Jake Guentzel or Mikko Rantanen, but unlike them, he's not going anywhere soon.
