The Hockey News' Derek Lee previews the Ducks' matchup against the Ottawa Senators.

ANAHEIM, Calif. - It was one hectic morning as news of Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick being dealt to the Edmonton Oilers broke shortly before the Ducks' morning skate.

The Ducks are already shorthanded with Troy Terry, Mason McTavish and Leo Carlsson all dealing with injuries. The trio will not play tonight against the Senators.

In the wake of the Henrique/Carrick deal, Pavol Regenda and Glenn Gawdin were recalled from the San Diego Gulls and will immediately slot into the lineup. The Ducks are short one forward and will have to go 11F/7D out of necessity.

"Energy," said Gawdin when asked what he's looking to bring tonight in his season debut. "On the fourth line, that's kind of the identity that they usually are. So I think that's something that I can add. And just try to be responsible and earn my keep here."

Gawdin and Regenda were part of the power play during morning skate, as head coach Greg Cronin and assistant coach Newell Brown––who runs the power play for Anaheim––tinkered with the personnel.

"Looking to bring energy," echoed Regenda. "I want to bring my physicality. Good forechecking, good (defensive) zone. Play an easy game. Trying to play around the net and that's what I'm going to try today. Hopefully, I can score some goals around the net."

Regenda said that the system in San Diego is the same as the one in Anaheim, so it's nice that he and Gawdin won't have to adjust too much.

    Fast Facts:
-The Ducks won their previous matchup against the Senators last month by a score of 5-1.
-Jakob Silfverberg will skate in his 800th career NHL game tonight against his former team. 751 of those games have come with Anaheim.
-The Senators are 3-6-1 in their last 10 games and are currently on a four-game losing streak.
-Vladimir Tarasenko will not face the Ducks tonight after he was traded to the Florida Panthers for a pair of draft picks.
