Big week for the Ducks!

The Anaheim Ducks are embarking on a critical offseason for the franchise after finishing last season with the worst record in the league. The team holds the second overall pick in the upcoming NHL Draft and has a plethora of young talent at their disposal on the roster. But Anaheim also hasn't reached the postseason since 2018 and they need to start making moves to get back to relevancy.
However, while this is an important offseason, some within the Ducks organization aren't feeling the pressure. Assistant General Manager Martin Madden spoke on how he is feeling as the draft comes up.
-“Those are excellent hockey players that we’re looking at. For us, for me, for us as a staff, it’s not a pressure situation. I am convinced that those players are going to have an impact in the league. There’s no doubt in my mind.”
These are interesting comments from one of the assistant gms for Anaheim. It likely means that the entire staff is cool and collected as the draft approaches which is a great thing for the Ducks.
They aren't panicking and won't make a decision just to make it. They as a whole know that where they sit in the draft is a great spot to get a cornerstone player for years to come. This is awesome for Ducks fans everywhere and shows how far this organization has come in recent years.
But this draft isn't just about the second overall pick as Anaheim holds nine selections throughout. Madden spoke about this as well.
-“Obviously, we’ll be talking after the draft and there’s going to be a reason why we drafted all nine and a reason why we’re excited about them. But as of now, I can say for sure at 59 and 60, we’re getting good players that we’re excited about.”
It's an exciting time for all hockey fans as the draft just signals that free agency is right around the corner. And then the season will be starting up soon! But for Anaheim, this summer will hopefully be the start to something great and getting this team back into contention sooner rather than later.
