The 25-year-old was set to be a restricted free agent with arbitration rights next summer.
On Sept. 17, Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek said that he wanted to start “reacting a little quicker” when it came to their restricted free agents. He did just that on Saturday afternoon by signing forward Tim Washe to a four-year, $9 million contract extension. The extension includes a 10-team no trade clause in the final two years.
It’s a nice reward for Washe, who originally signed as a undrafted free agent in 2024 and completed his first full season as an NHLer last year. After beginning the season in the AHL with San Diego, he was one of the Ducks’ first call-ups, eventually securing a spot on the fourth line during the second half of the season.

Anaheim now foreseeably has all four of their center spots secured with Washe picked in long-term. Mikael Granlund has two years remaining on the three-year deal he signed in July 2025 while Ryan Poehling and Leo Carlsson both signed multi-year deals within the last six months. Roger McQueen will likely have a regular spot by the time Granlund’s contract has expired.
The expectation this season is that Washe will assume the same role he had last season, acting as the fourth line center while also part of the penalty kill. He’s skated regularly with Sam Colangelo and offseason signing Jeff Malott thus far during training camp.
