This Bruins star will have a new role with Team Canada against Team USA.

Team Canada will be without one of their best players against Team USA on Feb. 15. Colorado Avalanche superstar Cale Makar won't be in the lineup due to an illness, which is brutal news when noting that he is their best defenseman. 

With Makar out of the lineup, Team Canada has announced that Boston Bruins star Brad Marchand will serve as an alternate captain against Team USA. 

Team Canada making Marchand an alternate captain with Makar being sidelined is entirely understandable. This is because Marchand is a 16-year veteran known for his great leadership qualities. It also does not hurt that he is currently the Bruins' captain right now, either.

It will be fascinating to see how much of an impact Marchand makes against Team USA while wearing the "A" for Canada from here.
