The Boston Bruins got back on track against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, battling to a 6-4 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena.

The Bruins scored twice just 14 seconds apart in the second period to take a 2-0 lead and added two more goals in the frame to lead 4-2 after 40 minutes. Despite Pittsburgh’s comeback attempt, the Bruins hung on to win for the fifth time in the past six games.

Pavel Zacha had a goal and an assist, and Charlie Coyle and David Pastrnak each had two assists for Boston, which improved to 47-18-15. Linus Ullmark made 28 saves. Pat Maroon had one shot on goal in 13:16 of ice time in his Bruins debut.

Jake DeBrusk opened the scoring at 8:08 of the second period, jamming the puck past Alex Nedeljkovic at the net front. Off the ensuing center ice face-off, Matt Grzelcyk fired a shot on net which rebounded right to Zacha in the slot, and he delivered to quickly make it 2-0 at 8:22.

Penguins forward Bryan Rust cut it to 2-1 at 10:27, but Kevin Shattenkirk pushed the lead back up to two with a snipe from the right side of the zone at 11:35. After falling down 3-1, Pittsburgh coach Mike Sullivan pulled Nedeljkovic and replaced him with Tristan Jarry, who was playing for the first time since March 24.

Jesper Boqvist tripped Lars Eller to set the Penguins up with a power-play opportunity at 14:37, but Coyle and Brad Marchand got a jump on the penalty kill and Marchand punched in a short-handed tally at 14:54 to make it 4-1.

Michael Bunting got one back for Pittsburgh on the same power play at 15:52, and Drew O’Connor had a short-handed goal of his own to cut it to 4-3 at 4:32.

The Bruins previously had trouble holding on to third-period leads, but they held on leading up to Jakub Lauko setting up Morgan Geekie at 14:10 of the third to give Boston more breathing room.

Danton Heinen added an empty-net score at 17:13, and Bunting scored for Pittsburgh on a last-gasp effort at 18:39 for the 6-4 final. The Bruins next face the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena on Monday.
