BOSTON – The Boston Bruins host the Pittsburgh Penguins at TD Garden on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET.
In addition to the normal broadcast, ESPN+ will broadcast a separate stream animated in the style of the Disney Channel cartoon, Big City Greens.
On the real ice, Hampus Lindholm will return to the lineup after a nine-game absence with a lower-body injury. Boston went 4-1-4 in his absence, and Parker Wotherspoon will draw out of the lineup.
Trade deadline acquisitions Pat Maroon and Andrew Peeke have joined the team, but neither will suit up on Saturday. Maroon is recovering from a disc surgery and is at least four weeks away from returning to the ice, Bruins general manager Don Sweeney said Friday. As for Peeke, there isn’t a specific plan for working him into the lineup.
“We’re one of the better teams in the league so far this year, and we didn’t lose anyone,” Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said on Saturday. “We didn’t lose anyone, we added people, so we’re better.”
The Penguins have lost four of their past five games, most recently a 6-0 defeat to the Washington Capitals on Thursday, but Montgomery doesn’t want his team to take the matchup lightly.
“I don’t think you ever look past Pittsburgh,” Montgomery said. “Because they have Sidney Crosby. Just too much respect, and Mike Sullivan is a great coach.”
