These former Bruins first-round picks have hit waivers.
It is no secret that the Boston Bruins have not had the most success with their first-round pick selections over the years.
Now, two of their former first-round picks have been placed on waivers by their current clubs: Fabian Lysell and Johnny Beecher.
Lysell has been placed on waivers by the Colorado Avalanche. This comes after Colorado acquired the 2021 first-round pick from Boston this off-season in exchange for forward Ivan Ivan.
Lysell played in just 12 NHL games for Boston, all during the 2024-25 season, where he recorded one goal and three points. He did not make an NHL appearance for the Original Six club last season, though, as he never received a call-up. In 57 games last season for the Providence Bruins, he recorded 17 goals and 42 points.
Beecher, on the other hand, has been placed on waivers by the Florida Panthers. The 2019 first-round pick signed with Florida during this off-season in free agency.
In 35 games last season split between the Bruins and Calgary Flames, Beecher posted three goals, seven points, 23 hits, and a minus-6 rating.
Beecher played three seasons with the Bruins from 2023-24 to 2025-26, where he recorded 11 goals, 22 points, 204 hits, and a minus-16 rating.
