The Boston Bruins had one of their busiest drafts in several years, as they brought in several new prospects. This was undoubtedly needed for the Bruins, as their prospect pool undoubtedly needs serious help after several years of trading first-round picks and prospects during their contention window.

Overall, it is hard to find much to complain about when it comes to the Bruins' picks at the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. They landed some exciting new players who could become solid pieces for them in the future.

However, when looking at the Bruins' draft picks from this year, there are three players who fans should be most excited about. Let's take a look at each of them now.

James Hagens (First Round, 7th Overall)

Many were shocked when James Hagens was still available for the taking when the Bruins were on the clock with the seventh-overall pick. Thus, the Bruins made the obvious right move to select him, and he is now easily the top prospect in the Original Six club's system because of it.

Hagens spent this past season with Boston College and undoubtedly stood out in a big way. In 37 games, the 5-foot-11 forward posted 11 goals, 26 assists, 37 points, and a plus-21 rating. Overall, it was a strong freshman year for the 18-year-old, and he should only hit a new level next season with the school.

The Bruins have been in need of a first-line center since Patrice Bergeron retired following the 2022-23 season, and Hagens could end up giving them just that later down the road. The Bruins need that game-changing star down the middle, and now that they have a prospect who could be that in Hagens. Thus, he is easily the prospect from this year's class who Bruins fans should be most excited about.

William Moore (Second Round, 51st Overall)

While Hagens was the Bruins' biggest prize at the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, William Moore was also a very good pickup for them. Many expected the 6-foot-3 center to be taken earlier in the draft, so this is a player whom the Bruins should feel fortunate about grabbing.

Moore has the potential to emerge as a solid NHL player in the future, as he is another skilled offensive player who also plays a smart defensive game. His size also makes an intriguing addition, as he stands in at 6-foot-3.

Moore had 27 goals and 59 points in 64 games with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program this past season. He also played in 25 United States Hockey League (USHL) games with the club, posting 10 goals and 21 points in 25 games. Overall, there is a lot to like about Moore's game, and he could end up being a steal for Boston because of it.

Cooper Simpson (Third Round, 79th Overall)

Cooper Simpson is another new Bruins prospect who fans should feel excited about. He will be more of a long-term project for the Bruins, but there is plenty to be optimistic about when it comes to the 18-year-old winger.

Simpson absolutely dominated with Shakopee High School this past season, as he had 49 goals and 83 points in 31 games. His 49 goals were the most among all Minnesota high school players, which is quite an accomplishment for the youngster. He scored seven goals and had an assist in nine USHL games with the Tri-City Storm in 2024-25.

Overall, Simpson is a very intriguing sniper for the Bruins to add to their prospect pool. It is no secret that the Bruins need more scoring wingers, so there is no harm in them taking a shot on a prospect like Simpson with a third-round pick. If he continues to trend in the right direction and improves his all-around game, he could very well become a solid top-nine forward in the NHL.

Things Are Looking Up For Bruins' Prospect Pool

While the Bruins still have more work to do with their prospect pool, there is no question that it is noticeably better than it was at the start of the 2024-25 season. They not only brought in some promising prospects at this year's draft, but they also acquired Fraser Minten and William Zellers through separate trades during their deadline fire sale. Thus, things are certainly looking up for the Bruins' prospect pool.

The Bruins will have plenty more opportunities to strengthen their prospect pool in the upcoming years, too. They have two first-round picks in both the 2026 and 2027 NHL Entry Drafts, so more promising youngsters should be on the way for the Bruins.
