An Ugly 40-Game Stretch for Boston Bruins

BOSTON – The Bruins enter Saturday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes with a 10-game losing skid.

It’s also a possibility the Bruins will be officially eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs if they lose in any fashion, or Montreal gets one point, or the Rangers win in any fashion.

So, it could be an interesting night at TD Garden.

The Bruins are also in the midst of one of their worst 40-game stretches in franchise history (post-expansion era). Since Dec. 23, 2024, Boston is 12-23-0-5, which is the third-worst in nearly 60 years. Only a 40-game stretch during the 1996-97 season (9-28-3-0) and a span during 2002-2003 (11-22-5-2) are worse.
