The Bruins should be working hard to keep this forward around.
There are many reasons for the Boston Bruins' turnaround this season. One of them has certainly been the addition of forward Viktor Arvidsson.
Arvidsson has simply been a perfect fit on the Bruins, and it is exactly why he plays in their top six. In 64 games on the season, the veteran winger has recorded 24 goals, 26 assists, 50 points, and a plus-21 rating. He has also been red-hot down the stretch, as he has five goals and nine points in his last five games.
With how well Arvidsson has played for the Bruins, it is clear that the Bruins can't afford to let him leave this off-season through free agency. Losing him would not create a notable hole in their forward group, but also make the rising Bruins lose one of their veteran mentors.
Arvidsson has simply been everything that the Bruins hoped he would be, and it very well could lead to him signing a contract extension with them before free agency gets here in July. A two- to three-year deal would likely make the most sense for the 32-year-old.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see what happens between the Bruins and Arvidsson. With this year's free agency class not being the strongest, keeping Arvidsson around should be something the Bruins strongly consider.
