Don Sweeney has made a decision for the team's training camp.
With it being the middle of September, training camp is just about here for the Boston Bruins.
Now, as the Bruins prepare for training camp, general manager Don Sweeney has made a big decision for it.
While speaking to reporters, including the Boston Globe's Kevin Paul Dupont, Sweeney announced that the Bruins will not invite any players to training camp on a professional tryout (PTO) agreement.
This is the second year in a row where Sweeney did not give a player a PTO for their training camp. The last time the Bruins did was before the 2024-25 season with Tyler Johnson, who earned a contract but then mutually terminated it during the campaign.
With the Bruins' roster not having the most firepower, it seemed possible that they would invite at least one player to their training camp on a PTO. However, the Bruins will instead be seeing what they have with their current group.
While the Bruins will have no players at their training camp on a PTO, there will still be plenty of competition during it. The Bruins have several players who will be fighting for a spot on their NHL roster, which includes youngsters like James Hagens, Frederic Brunet, and restricted free agent forward Matt Poitras.
