With Pavel Zacha entering a contract year, Don Sweeney has given them an update on their contract talks.
Boston Bruins forward Pavel Zacha is entering the 2026-27 season as a pending unrestricted free agent.
With this, there has been plenty of talk about the possibility of the Bruins signing Zacha to a contract extension.
Now, with training camp here, Bruins general manager Don Sweeney has provided an update on the Zacha contract talks.
While speaking to reporters, including Boston.com's Conor Ryan, Sweeney shared that he is still having extension talks with Zacha's representative, and they are working to find a "landing spot."
"Ongoing communication with Pav’s representative," Sweeney said. "Good dialogue. Have not found a landing spot... We’d like to be able to have him come back... Pav’s a big part of what we’re trying to accomplish as an organization."
Hearing that the Bruins are working hard to extend Zacha is not too difficult to understand. He is their top center, and it would be great if they could get him signed to a contract extension before the season starts.
Zacha appeared in 78 games last season for the Bruins, where he set career highs with 30 goals and 65 points. After a season like this, it is clear that the 2015 first-round pick is due for a significant raise. It will be intriguing to see if Boston ends up being the team that gives him it.
In 320 games over four seasons with the Black and Gold, Zacha has recorded 86 goals, 142 assists, and 228 points.
