The Bruins have missed out on their top winger target.
The Boston Bruins were among the teams that have been heavily linked to star winger Kirill Marchenko.
Yet, the Bruins have officially missed out on him, as the Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired him from the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Maple Leafs acquired Marchenko, Elvis Merzlikins, and Miles Wood from the Blue Jackets in exchange for Matthew Knies, Steven Lorentz, Emil Andrae, and a 2027 second-round pick.
With the Maple Leafs being one of the Bruins' biggest rivals, it is certainly rough that they have landed Marchenko. Now, the Bruins will need to consider their options elsewhere for another top-six winger.
Marchenko would have been a perfect addition to the Bruins' lineup if acquired. It is no secret that the Bruins could use high-impact winger to solidify their top six, and Marchenko would have given them just that. However, that will officially not be coming to fruition with the Maple Leafs acquiring him.
Marchenko appeared in 76 games last season for the Blue Jackets, where he recorded 27 goals and 67 points. This was after he posted 31 goals and 74 points in 79 games for Columbus in 2024-25. With numbers like these, he would have been a very good player for Boston to add.
