The Bruins should consider locking up this young forward to a long-term deal.

The Boston Bruins proved their doubters wrong last season when they made it back into the playoffs.

One of the big reasons for the Bruins surprising many by making the playoffs last year was because of Fraser Minten breaking out for the Original Six club. In 82 games with Boston this past season, the 22-year-old center set career highs with 17 goals, 18 assists, 35 points, 142 hits, and a plus-21 rating. Overall, the smart two-way center provided the Bruins with a nice mix of offense and grit.

With how well Minten played last season for the Bruins, they should strongly consider signing him to a long-term contract extension. The 2022 second-round pick is entering the final season of his entry-level deal, and the Bruins should try to lock him up before he has the chance to become a restricted free agent next summer.

With the Bruins not having the strongest of center depth, it is important for them to get Minten signed to his next deal. He is one of the players they are hoping will become a key part of their core, so it would be understandable if they signed him to a multi-year contract extension before his current deals expires.

It will be interesting to see if the Bruins end up locking up Minten from here.
