This Bruins player will not be in the lineup against the Blues.

The Boston Bruins are set to face off against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night.

After losing their most recent game against the Carolina Hurricanes, the Bruins will be aiming to end their roadtrip with a victory over St. Louis.

Now, for their game against the Blues, the Bruins are making a notable change to their blueline.

Connor Clifton is set to return to Boston's lineup after being scratched in each of the team's last seven games. With Clifton entering the Bruins' lineup, promising rookie defenseman Frederic Brunet is being scratched.

With Brunet being one of Boston's most exciting young players, it is notable that he is being scratched against the Blues. Yet, with the Bruins losing their last game against the Hurricanes, head coach Marco Sturm felt that a change on the blueline was needed.

Brunet had a minus-2 rating in 12:22 of ice time during the Bruins' most recent game against the Hurricanes.

Although Brunet is being scratched, he has been having a nice start to the 2026-27 season overall. In 10 games so far this campaign with Boston, the 2022 fifth-round pick has recorded one goal, three assists, four points, and a plus-4 rating. With numbers like these, the rookie defenseman should be back in the lineup in no time.

It will be interesting to see if the Bruins pick up a victory against the Blues with Brunet being taken out of the lineup.
