After signing Fraser Minten to a long-term extension, it's time for the Bruins to give him a big chance.
Earlier this week, the Boston Bruins signed Fraser Minten to a massive seven-year, $50.4 million contract extension. With this, the Black and Gold have locked up the young center through the 2033-34 season.
With the Bruins signing Minten to this long and expensive of a contract, it is clear that they have a lot of faith in him. It is easy to understand why, as he had a strong breakout season for them in 2025-26. In 82 games last season for Boston, he posted 17 goals, 18 assists, 35 points, and 142 hits.
Yet, now that the Bruins have locked up Minten, they should consider giving him a big opportunity next season. The Bruins need Minten to develop into a top-six center, so they should strongly consider giving him a chance on their top line with David Pastrnak and JJ Peterka this season.
Minten playing with a superstar like Pastrnak and a young, skilled forward like Peterka could be exactly what helps him hit a new level offensively. Because of this, Boston should not be afraid to try out Minten on this line.
Ultimately, with the Bruins being down the middle, there would be no harm in them trying out Minten occasionally on their first line this season. Perhaps playing with Pastrnak could help Minten grow his game further.
