The Boston Bruins have placed two of their forwards on waivers as they inch closer to their regular-season opener against the New York Rangers.
This is because the bruins have placed forwards Lukas Reichel and Alex Steeves on waivers.
Reichel being placed on waivers by the Bruins comes after he re-signed with the Original Six club on a one-year deal back in May. The 24-year-old forward appeared in 10 games for Boston last season after being acquired from the Vancouver Canucks at the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline, where he posted one goal and three points.
With Reichel being a former first-round pick and having a $950,000 cap hit, it is certainly fair to wonder if another team could take a chance on him with a waiver claim.
Steeves being placed on waivers comes ahead of the first season of his two-year, $3.25 million contract with the Bruins. This was probably not what the Bruins hoped would happen when they signed him to his contract extension during last season.
In 43 games for the Bruins last season, Steeves posted nine goals, 16 points, and 144 hits. This included him recording just two points in his final 15 games of last season.
