Brad Marchand is now ahead of two Bruins legends.
The Boston Bruins showed up big time in Game 1, as they defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs by a 5-1 final score. The Bruins were excellent offensively, strong defensively, extremely physical, and received spectacular goaltending from Jeremy Swayman. It was exactly the start they needed.
Bruins captain Brad Marchand was impressive in this matchup and moved up in the club's record book because of it.
Marchand, 35, posted two assists in Game 1 and moved to second place on the Bruins' all-time playoff points with 130, passing Bruins legends Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci (128 each).
This latest achievement by Marchand only shows just how impactful he has been in the playoffs throughout his career. Passing two big-time Bruins like Bergeron and Krejci is very impressive, and No. 63 still has time to build on his career playoff stats. He needs 31 more playoff points to tie Hall of Famer Ray Bourque at 161.
