BRIGHTON, Mass. -- The Boston Bruins acquired defenseman Andrew Peeke from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for AHL Providence defenseman Jakub Zboril and a 2027 third-round draft pick.

Peeke, 25, has one goal and eight points in 23 games this season. He ranked eighth on Columbus with 47 blocked shots, but everyone ahead of him played more than twice as many games so far this season.

Boston selected Zboril, 27, with the 13th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. After spending the majority of 2022-23 as Boston's seventh defenseman, Zboril failed to make the roster this season and has nine points -- all assists -- in 31 games with AHL Providence.

The 6-3, 214-pound Peeke has two years left on his contract after this season with a $2.75 million average annual value (AAV). Columbus is reportedly not retaining any salary, which means the Bruins will have to make another move to become salary cap compliant.

Updates to come on this developing story.
