The Boston Bruins announced eight players were cut from the 2023 Training Camp roster

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced eight players on the Bruins training camp roster have been sent down to the AHL Providence Bruins' training camp.

Forwards Joey Abate, Vincent Arseneau, Justin Brazeau, Curtis Hall, Owen Pederson, Luke Toporowski, defenseman Ethan Ritchie and goaltender Shane Starrett are the players cut.

Of the eight, Toporowski was the only one to appear in either of the Bruins first two preseason games. He recorded one shot on goal and finished with a plus-1 rating in Boston's 4-1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old was singled out by Providence Bruins coach Ryan Mougenel two weeks ago as a player who could make a real push and surprise people.

"He plays the game the right way. He's taking huge steps as a pro," Mougenel said on Sept. 13.

Now, Toporowski and the rest of the first cuts will look to solidify their roles in the AHL for the upcoming season.
