The Bruins' bold moves for Game 4 did not go as planned.
The Boston Bruins made some notable changes to their lineup for Game 4 against the Buffalo Sabres. First, they took top prospect James Hagens out of the lineup for Lukas Reichel. Then, Mason Lohrei was scratched in favor of Jordan Harris.
Unfortunately, these bold moves from Bruins head coach Marco Sturm did not pay off, as the Black and Gold played their worst game of the postseason by a country mile in Game 4.
The Bruins, of course, fell to the Sabres by a 6-1 final score and are now dowm in the series 3-1. With this, they need to go on a big run by winning three straight games, or their season will be over.
Like the majority of the Bruins in Game 4, Reichel and Harris did not make much of an impact. Reichel had a minus-2 rating, zero shots, and one giveaway. Harris, on the other hand, had two giveaways and a minus-2 rating in the matchup. He also played the fewest minutes out of all Bruins defensemen at just 13:37 of ice time. Jonathan Aspirot had the second-least playing time of the Bruins' defensemen, but with 18:06 time on ice.
Unfortunately, the Bruins' decision to shake up the roster did not give them the results they wanted in Game 4. Given how that matchup went, it would not be surprising if Sturm switched things up again in a win-or-go-home Game 5.
